Teresita Gomez
Teresita Gómez was born in Medellín and began her piano training at the age of four at the Institute of Fine Arts, taught by teachers Marta Agudelo de Maya and Anna María Penella. She took advanced piano courses at the Conservatory of the National University of Colombia with the pianists Tatiana Goncharova and Hilde Adler and later at the Conservatory of the University of Antioquia with the teacher Harold Martina, obtaining her degree as Concertist and Piano Teacher Summa Cum Laude in said institution.
He received master classes from maestro Jaime León, in the city of Bogotá, and from Bárbara Hesse, Jacob Lateiner and Klauss Besslau (in Warsaw, Weimar and Berlin respectively). He has given recitals both in Colombia and abroad: Havana, Panama City, Quito, Caracas, Maracaibo, Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Asunción, Berlin, Paris, León, Madrid, Bucharest, Warsaw , Sofia, Bari, Hamburg, Budapest, Munich, Bern, Granada, Vienna, Brussels, Leipzig, Geneva, Wassenar, Basel, Zurich and The Hague, among others.
During his professional career he has carried out important teaching work at the University of Caldas, the University of Cauca, the University of the Andes and the EAFIT University. Currently retired from the University of Antioquia but continues to work as a professor. As Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Colombia in the German Democratic Republic (1983-1987), during the government of President Belisario Betancur, she carried out fertile musical activity throughout Europe and carried out unprecedented work in disseminating the most outstanding Colombian composers. He has represented his country in the most diverse and important international competitions, among which the Franz Liszt International Festival (Weimar, Germany, 1986), the Campos do Jordao International Winter Festival (Brazil, 1995), at the Liceo de Barcelona stand out. , recital and master class (Barcelona, 2004) and at the Colombian-Catalan music festivals, Eafit University (Medellín, 2003, 2004).
During the celebration of her 50 years of artistic life, she has been recognized by different institutions. She was recently decorated by the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra with the Order of Philharmonic Merit and the Colombian government decorated her with the Cruz de Boyacá Comendador Degree. She was also invited to Cuba to perform Gershwin's Concerto in F, in the company of the National Symphony Orchestra of Havana and under the direction of teacher Cecilia Espinosa, director of the EAFIT University Orchestra of Medellín.
