Blanca Uribe

Blanca Uribe, originally from Bogotá, moved to Medellín, growing up in a family of musicians. He began his studies with his grandmother and then with the Italian teacher Luisa Manighetti. At the age of 11, he debuted with the Colombian Symphony Orchestra and continued his training in the United States and Vienna, standing out with academic honors. Her career as a pianist led her to performances on prestigious international stages and to be a soloist with renowned orchestras.

 

From 1969 to 2005, she was a professor at Vassar College in New York, receiving the title "George Shermann Dickinson Chair." In addition, he taught at institutions such as the Eastman School in Rochester and New York University, extending his influence to universities and conservatories in various countries. Uribe obtained awards and recognition in classical music competitions, standing out in the Chopin Competition in Warsaw and in Rio de Janeiro.

 

During her time in Europe, she received the Elena Rombro-Stepanov Prize and the Gold Medal at the world competition in Geneva. His contribution as a jury member in prominent international competitions reflects his influence on the global music scene. Blanca Uribe is a distinguished pianist, educator and internationally recognized juror.

Conservatorio del Tolima

Founded in 1906 by Maestro Alberto Castilla as a Music School in Ibagué that was initially aimed at men, but later opened its doors to women under the direction of Tulia Páramo. In 1920, it was named the Tolima Conservatory of Music. In 1932, the Salón Alberto Castilla was inaugurated, one of the most important concert halls in Colombia. 

 

Under the direction of prominent directors such as Amina Melendro de Pulecio, the Tolima Conservatory has provided quality musical education. In 1980 it was elevated to a Public Higher Education Institution with administrative autonomy and independent heritage and in 1987 it was decided that the official name of the Institution was “CONSERVATORIO DEL TOLIMA”, as it is currently known, being a Higher Education Institution, according to Law 30 of 1992.

 

The Master of Music program began work in the B Semester of 2007 and has graduated a total of 146 graduates until the 2023 B semester, being the second undergraduate program of the institution that has managed to take its graduates to large stages nationwide. and international, young people who make up the most important orchestras in the country and great musicians who are on European stages in chamber music formats, as soloists or members of orchestras.
